What is a Microsanctuary?
A microsanctuary is…
…a small-scale sanctuary operating within a vegan household, caring for animals generally regarded as ‘farm’ species.
The foundation of a microsanctuary is the belief that no matter the size of one’s space or resources, it is adequate to protect and nurture individual animals and prevent their use as commodities.
Our decision to start a microsanctuary was influenced by the obstacles often
aced by larger sanctuaries, including fundraising challenges, staffing demands, and the need for substantial operational structures. We aim to play a role, albeit on a smaller scale, yet still make a significant impact.

Why ‘Farm Animals’?
‘Farm animals’ are…
…some of the most extensively used individuals on the planet. We say ‘farm animals’ in quotes, as their purpose morally speaking is not to be ‘farmed.’ ‘Farming’ language is also a euphemism for the moral atrocities they are forced to endure.
By providing refuge to individuals who are considered ‘farm’ animals, sanctuaries do more than just save lives; they advocate for a fundamental shift in how society views and treats these individuals.
Each sanctuary, large or small, is a living example of what it means to respect animal rights, challenging the prevailing norms of a society that see our fellow animals as commodities. They help to inform on the realities behind our ‘food’ systems and inspire a respectful approach towards all animals, advocating for a world where all breeding, killing and use of animals is not part of the future.
